Sherri Richards
Hi, my name is Sherri Richards. I have been the Preschool Director since August 2006. I love getting to see all of our precious children coming in for church and getting lots of hugs. I enjoy working with the children’s staff they make my job so much fun!!
I grew up in Little Rock, and lived in the same house until the day I was married. I have been a member here since 1994, this was also when I was baptized and began working with the children’s department. I wanted to learn everything that the children were learning and what I had missed out on in my childhood. I love my church and Bro. Tom is awesome.
In the 3rd grade my most prized possession was my John Travolta lunch box and thermos. I wish I still had it. I also wore blue silk pants and a red silk hat. I was a fashion statement all by myself. My favorite pair of jeans were a pair of hand-me downs that had a Raggedy Ann and Andy patch right on the center seam…I also had a big comb that I carried in my back pocket that said “If You Can Read This You Are Standing Too Close”. I have always been sight challenged so I wore the big huge bulky rimmed glasses with Coke bottle lenses until finally in 10th grade I blossomed-contacts!
I have been married to my wonderful husband Rich since 1989. When Rich and I were dating he let me drive his newly painted Silverado, I accidentally ran it into the speaker at Sonic on Geyer Springs, in SW Little Rock. I was blasting David Lee Roth from the radio and didn’t even notice until all the Sonic employees started running my way waving their arms and yelling STOP! That was the first test of his true love for me and he passed with flying colors. His truck had suffered a deep embedded scratch all the way down the driver’s front fender. He still loves to tell the story. Rich loves to hunt anything that moves. He has hunted everything from a cougar to antelope- they all now grace our home. His next big hunt is a Bear in Paron! I’m just not sure where we will put a bear…
My favorite color is red; my favorite time of year is spring when everything wakes up. I am terrified of frogs! I get chills just thinking about them. I have also had a fear of the moon, although I think I have outgrown that fear.
My favorite memory of my kids is when Daniel fell sound asleep in the tub. All that was left out of the water was his nose and mouth. I have video. Daniel will be starting the 10th grade. He is the athlete of the family; he has a passion for Baseball and Football. We don’t know where he got this talent because it was not from Rich or myself. It is a wonder that Daniel is not confused by the mixed messages he received when he was 4 years old dirt bike racing and Rich was yelling “GO, GO, GO” and I was yelling “Slow down, slow down.” He listened to his dad and won a first place trophy that was as big as him. Kayleigh started out riding dirt bikes, but slowed down at 3 years old after riding one UP a tree in the neighbors yard. Kayleigh is kind, loving, motherly and always wanting to help others. Kayleigh will be starting college in the fall of 2010. She has an incredible servants heart and has been a huge asset to the children’s ministry, she loves to minister to the ones in need and has given many of her summers to serve on mission trips. Last but not least is Gabby! She is my spoiled rotten 3-year-old Yorkie, she really runs the household!!
